Description

IMO Type Approved Class-A AIS for SOLAS Vessels
SOLAS carriage requirements mandate Class-A Automatic Identification Systems (AIS) to be fitted aboard all ships, on international voyages, 300 GT and upwards; all cargo ships, both international or domestic, 500 GT and upwards; and all passenger ships, international or domestic, regardless of size. The Simrad V5043 is a complete solution with IMO-type approval to meet AIS requirements aboard SOLAS vessels and for use on inland waterways.

Safety and Awareness
Adding AIS to navigation for spontaneous 'ship-to-ship' or 'ship-to-shore' recognition greatly enhances safety at sea and provides mariners with new levels of real-time information. AIS systems allow you to receive an instant overview of traffic situations and the maneuvers of other AIS-enabled ships, assisting with safe navigation in radar blind zones. AIS also makes it easy to establish contact with other ships with radio call signs presented on the display.

Standalone Operation
The Simrad V5043 is a compact bracket or panel-mount unit with a larger, integrated 4.3-inch color LCD screen with a user-friendly interface and easy keypad operation. The V5043 can be configured and operated without any external display or controller and provides AIS information to the operator in basic-coastline, radar-style, alphanumeric (textual list of contacts) and satellite display modes.

Complete AIS Solution with Comprehensive Connectivity
The V5043 ships with a junction box providing three bi-directional NMEA 0183® ports and NMEA 2000® bus for connection to multiple external sensors (e.g. heading, gyro), and sharing of AIS data for display by navigation systems such as the Simrad GN70, MX610, or MX612, and ECS/ECDIS including the Simrad E5000 series. The V5043 also includes a complete pilot plug assembly for connection to a Personal Pilot Unit (PPU).
